The East African nation embarked on this journey under the leadership of ex-President Mohamed Farmaajo.
President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has proceeded on the same path since assuming office in 2022.

Primarily, international lenders have cancelled the debt totaling $4.5 billion that Somalia owed them.
This week, Somalia hopes to finally achieve full debt relief status.
