Somaliland has received a donation of 500,000 facemasks from President Ismail Omar Guelleh of Djibouti.
The donation of the personal protection equipment (PPE) from Djibouti arrived in Somaliland on April 12.
The plane carrying the consignment touched down at the Egal International Airport in Hargeisa on Monday.
Abdifatah Said Ahmed, Somaliland’s Head of Mission to Djibouti, was in the plane that transported the donation.
Dr. Mohamed Abdi Hergeye, the Director General from Somaliland’s Ministry of Health, was on hand to receive the donation.
According to Dr. Hergeye, the facemasks would play a crucial role in mitigating the spread of the deadly COVID-19 disease.
