President Abdirahman Mohamed Irro of Somaliland has clarified that no decisions have been made regarding the acceptance of Palestinian refugees.
He was responding to recent reports that Somaliland could be one of the destinations for Palestines displaced from Gaza if United States President Donald Trump has his way.
President Irro said this despite Somaliland’s strong relationship with the United States and its sympathy for the Palestinian cause.
Speaking to Sky News Arabia after attending the World Government Summit in Dubai, UAE, he emphasized the importance of consulting with the U.S. before taking any definitive stance on the matter.
This cautious approach reflects Somaliland’s strategic considerations and its desire to align its actions with its international partnerships.
