Somalia’s Speaker of the House of the People, Sheikh Adan Mohamed Nur, departed for Algiers on Thursday to participate in the Arab Parliamentary Speakers Conference. The high-level summit brings together parliamentary leaders from across the Arab world to deliberate on urgent regional challenges, with the ongoing conflict in Palestine topping the agenda.
According to a statement released by his office, Speaker Madobe is expected to deliver a strong message reaffirming Somalia’s unwavering support for the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination, freedom, and dignity. He will also advocate for stronger Arab solidarity and a unified parliamentary voice in defending Palestinian rights and confronting escalating humanitarian and political crises in the region.
This visit underscores Somalia’s continued commitment to Arab League principles and its active role in shaping regional dialogue through parliamentary diplomacy. Speaker Madobe’s presence in Algiers reflects Mogadishu’s desire to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with fellow Arab nations in pursuit of peace, justice, and cooperation.
