A suicide bombing has been reported in Galkayo ahead of the visit by Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble.
A welcoming rally had been organized in the region ahead of the arrival of Prime Minister Roble.
According to reports, the Prime Minister’s entourage was yet to arrive at the venue when the incident occurred.
Eyewitnesses and security officers at the scene confirmed several fatalities at the Friday, December 18 incident.
Prime Minister Roble is currently on touring the five Federal Member States (FMS) to resolve the electoral impasse.
