Supreme Court of Somalia Starts Hearing Case of a Man Who Burned His Wife to Death

The Supreme Court of Somalia, under the leadership of Chief Justice Bashe Yusuf Ahmed, has commenced hearings in the appeal case of Sayid Ali Moallim.

The care involves Moallim, who was sentenced to death by both the Benadir Regional Court and the Benadir Appeals Court for the murder of his wife, Lul Abdiaziz.

Moallimnis accused of commuting the offence early this year when he fatally burned on January 26, 2024.

As this case reaches the Supreme Court, it represents Moallim’s final opportunity to overturn the previous court rulings.

The outcome of this appeal will determine whether the death sentence will be upheld or altered.
