Turkey-Led Talks between Somalia and Ethiopia Don’t Concern Somaliland, Declares Kayd

Somaliland’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Essa Kayd, says that the Turkey-led talks between Somalia and Ethiopia are of little concern.

The statement by Somaliland’s Foreign Minister on BBC Somali emphasizes that Turkey’s mediation efforts between Somalia and Ethiopia are not relevant to Somaliland.

The Minister highlighted that the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Somaliland and Ethiopia is progressing positively, with a formal agreement expected soon.

This indicates that Somaliland is independently pursuing its diplomatic and economic relations with Ethiopia, separate from the broader regional dynamics involving Somalia.

Thus far, Somalia and Ethiopia have held two rounds of talks in the Turkish city of Ankara.

There has been no report on any meaningful progress made between them in the Ankara talks, though.
