UN Envoy Visits De Martini Hospital in Mogadishu

James Swan, the UN Secretary General’s Special Envoy to Somalia, visited De Martini Hospital in Mogadishu early today.

Dr. Fawziya Abikar Nur, the country’s Minister of Health, accompanied the UN Special Envoy in his tour of the hospital.

De Martini has played a crucial role in the country’s fight against COVID-19.

Swan acknowledged this when he said, “De Martini Hospital continues to play a crucial role in testing COVID-19 among patients from different parts of the country.”

The envoy also mentioned the role the hospital has played in detecting new cases of the novel Coronavirus and the critical care support its personnel offer.

De Martini Hospital boasts 71 COVID-19 isolation beds and 16 ventilators designed to treat patients diagnosed with the virulent disease.
