UNPOL Correction Advisor Visits Kismayo Police Headquarters

Patricia Mavehembu was in Kismayo to visit the headquarters of the Lower Jubbaland Police.

Mavehembu, the UnIted Nations Police (UNPOL) Correction Advisor, visited the headquarters on Saturday.

She was with the representatives of the African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS) Police.

The Sierra Leonean contingent of ATMIS provided security to Mavehembu and her delegation.

She held talks with Maj. Warsame Ahmed Gelle, the Lower Jubbaland Deputy Police Commissioner.

Their discussions centered on wide-ranging issues such as fingerprint training for Somali Police Force (SPF) officers.

They also discussed plans for the internally displaced persons (IDPs) at Luglow Camp.

IDPs at the Luglow Camp fled their homes during last year’s heavy El Nino rains and floods.
