Upper House Speaker Accuses Prime Minister of Siding with DPM Gulaid

Abdi Hashi, the Speaker of the Upper House, has accused Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble of siding with Deputy Prime Minister Mahdi Gulaid.

Speaker Hashi and Deputy Prime Minister Gulaid have been embroiled in heated differences over the issue of electoral commission in Somaliland.

On Friday, Speaker Hashi spoke to members of the press on this issue.

In his words, Prime Minister Roble has openly decided to back the position taken by his Deputy Prime Minister on this matter.

Recently, Prime Minister Roble announced that Hashi and Gulaid had resolved the matter.

However, Speaker Hashi has said that the issue remains unresolved.

The differences between Hashi and Gulaid came to the fore when the members they nominated to the electoral commission elected two chairpersons.
