US Embassy Honors Service Members Killed in Mogadishu 30 Years Ago

The United States Embassy in Mogadishu honored servicemen who were killed in the city 30 years ago.

The Embassy held a moment of silence on Tuesday for those killed in the Somali capital city between October 3-4, 1993.

Three decades ago, 18 American soldiers lost their lives in a deadly clash in Mogadishu.

Seventy-three other soldiers suffered injuries.

However, official estimates put the number of Somali militants killed in the incident at between 133 and 700 though the number is believed to be much higher in some quarters.
