The United States is ready to stand with Somalia in finding lasting solutions to the problems bedeveling the East African nation, especially security-related matters.
The US Ambassador to Somalia, Richard H. Riley, said this on Wednesday during an interview with Voice of America (VOA) Somalia.
Ambassador Riley’s remarks reflect the US’ continued commitment to supporting Somalia’s efforts in achieving stability and security, particularly through the presence of the African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS).
The Ambassador’s statement acknowledges the critical role played by troop-contributing countries, whose personnel have been instrumental in assisting the federal government in its fight against terrorism and the restoration of peace.
In his interview with VOA, Ambassador Riley also emphasized the US’s dedication to peaceful conflict resolution, further reinforcing its partnership with the Somali government in combating terrorism, strengthening governance, and fostering development in Somalia.
The enduring collaboration between Somalia and the U.S. aims to ensure that the gains made so far are preserved, even as ATMIS transitions into its next phase.
