Voter registration exercise in Somaliland is off to a smooth start, according to the Ministry of Interior and Home Affairs.
Mohamed Kahin Ahmed, the interior minister, said that the exercise is currently underway in seven constituencies around the country.
The interior minister directed security agencies to ensure that peace and security prevail in Somaliland during the course of the voter registration exercise.
Ahmed also commended Somaliland’s National Electoral Commission (SLNEC) for ensuring that the exercise is off to a good start.
He reminded NEC personnel to display utmost professionalism and commitment to the exercise.
Furthermore, the interior minister requested members of the public to turn up in large numbers to register to vote for their preferred representatives in the upcoming elections.
