The leader of the opposition Wadajir Party has accused President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo of staging an indirect coup.
Abdirahman Abdishakur, the Wadajir Party leader, made these comments on February 8 a few hours before Farmaajo’s term in office expired.
Farmaajo’s term expires on Monday at midnight.
The opposition leader accused the outgoing leader of “staging an indirect coup” after failing to hand over the reins of power at the end of his first term in office.
Consequently, Abdishakur advised international community to stop dealing with a leader who lacks “legitimacy.”
Farmaajo has been the President of the Republic of Somalia for the past four years.
The opposition leader also stated that Somalia is currently caught up in “electoral crossroads” that need to be solved first.
