3 African Football Legends Set to Visit Somalia to Inspire Youth

In a landmark move to promote sports and youth empowerment, Somalia is set to welcome three of Africa’s most celebrated football icons — Samuel Eto’o of Cameroon, Emmanuel Adebayor of Togo, and Nigeria’s Jay-Jay Okocha. The announcement was confirmed by Youth and Sports Minister Mohamed Abdiqadir.

The high-profile visit, expected to take place in the coming weeks, aims to encourage Somali youth and bolster the country’s sports development. The three legends will engage in community outreach, motivational sessions, and meetings with local sports officials and young athletes.

“This is a historic moment for Somalia,” Abdiqadir stated. “The presence of Eto’o, Adebayor, and Okocha will inspire our youth, promote peace through sports, and reinforce our commitment to rebuilding the country’s athletic potential.”

The visit comes at a time when Somalia is actively investing in youth initiatives and using sports as a tool for unity and resilience in post-conflict recovery. The trio’s arrival is expected to draw regional attention and symbolize solidarity with Somalia’s journey toward progress.

More details about the visit’s schedule and planned activities will be released by the Ministry of Youth and Sports in the coming days.
