ATMIS Launches Joint Operations Centers in Areas of Responsibility

The African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS) has launched Joint Operations Centers (JOCs) in Somalia.

ATMIS launched the JOCs in a colorful ceremony carried out on Saturday, October 8.

During the ceremony, ATMIS announced that run the JOCs in collaboration and planning with Somali Security Forces (SSF).

The JOCs would play a critical role in the ongoing operations against Al-Shabaab.

Lt. Gen. Diomede Ndegeya, the ATMIS Force Commander, attended the launching of the JOCs.

He assured all who were present at the ceremony that the JOCs would support the implementation of numerous United Nations resolutions.

Abdifatah Qassim Mahamud, the federal Deputy Minister of Defense, officiated the launching ceremony.

The minister commended the recent joint operations against terrorists carried out by ATMIS and SSF troops in Hiiraan and Galgadud.
