The Ethiopian National Defense Force (ENDF) is ready for war in case Somalia opts for that option.
Lt. Gen. Alemeshet Degfe, the Senior Advisor to the Chief of Staff of the ENDF, declared this on Saturday.
The senior military officer added that the army is already on standby to prevent any internal or external attack designed to destabilize Ethiopia.
He was speaking in reference to the reports from Mogadishu that Somalia is not ruling out going to war with Ethiopia over the latter’s recent agreement with Somaliland.
The Ethiopia-Somaliland agreement allows the former to access and control 20kms of Somaliland’s seaport directly.
In return, Ethiopia would become the first nation in the African continent to offer Somaliland complete recognition as an independent state.
