Identity of Al-Shabaab Leader Injured in Saturday’s Airstrike Revealed

The identity of an Al-Shabaab leader injured in Saturday’s airstrike in Somalia has been revealed.

Osman Mohamed Abdi, who is also known as Moallim Osman, was the target of the airstrike carried out jointly by the Somali military in conjunction with the United States Africa Command (AFRICOM).

Omar Mohamed Abu Ayan, a former Al-Shabaab official, revealed Moallim’s identity.

Ayan confirmed that Moallim had been the primary target of the airstrike.

Moallim, who survived with injuries to his hands, has served as the militia group’s Head of Operations for years.

The Ministry of Information published a statement on Tuesday corroborating Ayan’s initial assessment.
