BELGRADE, Serbia – Somalia’s envoy to Serbia, Mohamed Abdullahi Ahmed, addressed elite Presidential Guard officers on Thursday during a visit to the Marshal Tito (Kula) Training Centre, emphasizing that their training results will impact the security of Somalia’s key institutions.
The Ambassador’s visit sought to evaluate advancement and motivate the participants engaged in a Serbian government-supported advanced training program focused on specialized protection and tactical skills.
Speaking to the trainees, Amb. Ahmed highlighted that their responsibilities transcend personal professional development, noting that the expertise gained during their Serbian training will be “crucial” for enhancing Somalia’s leadership security amid ongoing security reforms.
“You have come here to acquire competencies essential for our country. Embrace this training with dedication and moral character to return completely equipped to protect Somalia’s most important positions,” he stated.
The envoy expressed gratitude to Serbia’s Ministry of Interior for assisting Somalia’s security establishment, describing the collaboration as a strategic alliance that directly fosters political stability in Mogadishu.
Diplomats accompanying the Ambassador explained that the initiative targets both individual skill improvement and elevating the general performance level of the Presidential Guard, whose effectiveness is fundamental to the legitimacy of governmental institutions.
This development represents an expanding military and security partnership between Somalia and Serbia, reflecting the East African nation’s efforts to professionalize its protective services and reinforce security system robustness.
