Somalia Signs International Agreement Prohibiting Use of Explosives in Populated Areas

Somalia has signed an international agreement that prohibits the use of explosives in populated areas.

The East African nation signed the agreement on Friday, November 18.

It joined other countries that also signed the new international norm against using explosives in densely populated areas.

Abshir Omar Jama Huruse, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, signed the agreement on behalf of Somalia.

The agreement was signed in Dublin, Ireland.

Consequently, civilians living or working in war zones will enjoy increased protection as this international law comes into effect.
