Somalia Supports China’s Stance against Pelosi’s Taiwan Visit

Somalia has thrown its weight behind the stance that China took in condemning the visit by Nancy Pelosi to Taiwan.

Pelosi, a senior United States official, visited Taiwan on August 3.

China has been livid with that visit. It has threatened to cut any cooperation with the US on many fronts.

On August 6, Somalia issued a statement through its Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation on the Pelosi visit.

In the statement, Somali government reaffirmed its support for China’s “sovereignty and political independence.”

It also supports China’s “national unity” and “territorial integrity.”

The East African nation also pledged to continue supporting the “one-China” policy.

Without mincing words, the Somali government called Taiwan “an inalienable part of China’s territory.”
