Somalia to Plant 1 Million Trees before the End of 2022

Somalia has announced plans to plant more than 1 million trees before the end of 2022.

Adam Aw Hirsi, the State Minister for Environment and Climate Change, made this announcement on Saturday, August 13.

The state minister was speaking during an event attended by officers from the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) and other stakeholders.

These plans are welcome news to a country that has been experiencing drought regularly.

Currently, the East African nation is in the middle of one of its worst droughts of the last four decades.

Failed rains in four consecutive seasons have made the situation worse for humans and livestock.
