Somalia to Receive $9.5 Million from the UN for Fighting Famine

Somalia is to receive $9.5 million from the United Nations for the fight against famine.

Adam Abdelmoula, the Deputy Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General to Somalia, launched a new allocation of $9.5 million from the Somalia Humanitarian Fund (SHF).

Abdelmoula launched the allocation on August 3.

According to Abdelmoula, the funds will help Somalia to provide immediate assistance to the communities feeling the impact of the ongoing drought.

However, Abdelmoula said that the funding for responding to the rapidly growing humanitarian needs of Somalis remains insufficient.
