Representatives from several international partners held talks with President Abdiaziz Hassan Mohamed Lafta-Gareen of the Southwest State on October 14.
Representatives from the United Nations (UN), African Union (AU), European Union (EU), and Intergovernmental Development Authority (IGAD) all attended the meeting with Lafta-Gareen.
They commended President Lafta-Gareen for the incredible role he played in the recent talks between the Federal Government of Somalia and Federal Member States.
James Swan, UN Special Envoy to Somalia, led his fellow diplomats in urging “Somali leaders to proceed with preparations for the upcoming elections.”
The international diplomats encouraged Somali authorities to ensure that the upcoming polls are not only fair but also transparent and all-inclusive.
