Somaliland Receives 150,000 Medigen Vaccines from Taiwan

Somaliland has received 150,000 doses of MVC-COV1901 vaccines to help it in the fight against the virulent COVID-19 disease.

The Taiwanese government donated the vaccines to Somaliland.

The northern breakaway region received the vaccines on Tuesday, December 28.

Taiwan has developed the vaccines, which are also known as Medigen, domestically.

The Asian nation’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced the donation through Wu Chen-chi, the Charge d’affaires at the Taiwan Representative Office in Somaliland.

Hassan Mohamed Ali Gafadhi, Somaliland’s Minister of Health, confirmed that the government had indeed received the vaccines.

Somaliland’s health ministry had already granted Medigen the Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) status a few days ago.
