A Ugandan who was suspended from the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) has been replaced.
Moussa Faki, the Head of the African Union Commission (AUC), announced new changes within AMISOM on February 9.
Fiona Lortan takes over from Simon Mulongo as the Deputy Special Representative of the Chairperson of the AUC Commission Head of Mission (DRSCC) to Somalia.
Mulongo was expelled from Somalia towards the end of last year.
Lortan, a South African, now becomes Ambassador Francois Madeira’s deputy.
Prior to her appointment, Lortan had been the Acting Director for Conflict Management in the Political Affairs Peace and Security Department (PAPS).
