Fighting broke out in the Galmudug town of Guri-El yet again on Monday, October 25.
This was the third day of uneasiness in the town as Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) troops join hands with Galmudug regional forces to fight the Ahlu Sunna militants.
Fighting between these sides first broke out on Saturday.
The weekend clashes left more than 20 people killed including a senior commander with the Danab elite forces.
Monday’s clashes were mostly reported in the eastern side of the town.
This took place only a day after government forces claimed that they were in control of the city after restoring stability, peace, and order.
According to local residents, the latest round of clashes has left a child dead.
One of the town’s largest medical facilities – Starlin Hospital – sustained fire damages after being hit by a mortar.
