Dhusamareb: The head of Galmudug State, Ahmed Abdi Karie (Qoor Qoor), expressed his congratulations to the residents of Mogadishu for their peaceful, calm, and substantial participation in the local council elections for the Benadir Region districts. President Karie commended the National Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (NIEBC) and national security forces for their responsible execution of duties, ensuring the elections proceeded safely and orderly. He characterized the successful conduct of the voting process as a historic milestone for the Somali nation. During his statement, President Ahmed Abdi Karie also lauded the President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, for his pivotal decision and persistent efforts that allowed citizens of the capital to elect local council representatives through direct voting for the first time in six decades. He finished by urging the people of Galmudug to prepare for forthcoming elections, encouraging them to exercise their democratic privilege by electing their leaders.
