HoA Expects NZ$7.75 Million for Humanitarian Response from New Zealand

The Horn of Africa (HoA) will receive NZ$7.75 million from the New Zealand government.

The funds, which roughly equate to US$4.7 million, will be for humanitarian assistance in the region.

Nanaia Mahuta, New Zealand’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, has confirmed this development.

She announced that NZ$2 million would go through several Aotearoa New Zealand non-governmental organizations (NGOs) partners.

It would work closely with New Zealand Disaster Response Partnership.

“Our NGO partners are prepared to match the contributions of our government,” Mahuta added.

New Zealand would also contribute NZ$5.75 million to a number of international organizations.

These include the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), the World Food Programme (WFP), and the Ethiopian Humanitarian Fund (EHF).
