NGOs Claims Hunger Kills One Somali Every Four Seconds

Non-governmental organizations (NGOs) now claim that hunger is killing one person every four seconds in the country.

Recently, 238 NGOs issued a joint statement on this matter.

They presented the statement at the 77th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York on Tuesday this week.

The NGOs are from 75 countries around the globe.

Some of these organizations include Save the Children, OXFAM, and Plan International to mention but a few.

In their statement, the NGOs stated that 345 million globally face acute hunger.

Somalia is currently in the middle of one of its worst recorded droughts. There are fears that millions of people in the country face acute food insecurity.

Famine is on the doorsteps of the East African nation too.

The ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine has not made the situation any easier for countries around the world either.

Russia and Ukraine rank third and fourth respectively on the list of the largest grain exporters in the world.
