No Casualties as Fire Reported at Mogadishu’s Peace Hotel

No casualties were recorded as fire destroyed part of the Peace Hotel in Mogadishu on February 7.

On Saturday, fire burned inside a container used as storage space for vehicle spare parts at the popular hotel.

However, the hotel’s management confirmed that nobody was either injured or killed.

Furthermore, the management said that the fire was put out quickly before it could spread to other parts of the hotel, which is near the Aden Adde International Airport.

Witnesses believe that sparks produced from the welding that has been going on at the hotel caused the fire.

Basir Osman, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Peace Business Group, expressed delight at the fast action that ensured the fire was contained before it grew worse.

Peace Hotel is quite popular with government officials and foreign tourists.
