The African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS) has embarked on Phase Two of the withdrawal of its troops.
On Sunday, ATMIS handed over yet another forward operating base (FOB) to Somali security agencies.
The Biyo Cadde FOB is now in the hands of the Somali National Armed Forces (SNAF).
The operating base, which is right inside Middle Shabelle, has been in the hands of Burundi National Armed Forces (BNAF).
ATMIS expects to reduce its troops in Somalia by a further 3,000 by the end of September 2023.
